In 2001 Koichi Hirose, from Part 4, goes to Naples at the request of Jotaro Kujo to find someone known as Haruno Shiobana and get a skin sample of theirs. This person turns out to be middle school student Giorno Giovanna (In Italian "Gio" is pronounced exactly like "Jo", and when written in Japanese, "Haruno Shibana" and "Giorno Giovanna" look exactly the same.), the son of Dio Brando (conceived using Jonathan Joestar's body) and a Japanese woman. Giorno is introduced by attempting to steal Koichi's luggage, though he is stopped by Koichi's stand Echoes Act Three. Giorno recognized his power as being a stand power similar to his Gold Experience (Named after the Prince album), a stand that can give life to inanimate objects. The story then follows Giorno as he tries to become a boss of the mafia in order to make Naples a better place and help its people, specifically where availability of drugs to young people are concerned. After an altercation with gang member Leaky Eye Luka, he attempts to join Passione, an organized crime group that employs many Stand users (essentially, his vision for Passione is akin to Robin Hood's band, in contrast to the sheer powerlust of its current leader). He is approached by a member of Passione, Bruno Bucciarati, who suspects him of killing Luka. During the fight readers are introduced to Buciarati's stand, Sticky Fingers, that can place and open a zipper on any surface. Bucciarati challenges Giorno to complete the rite to join Passione, and therefore visit the Capo, Polpo, in prison. Giorno is given a lighter by Polpo, with instructions to not let it go out. When it is accidentally extinguished by a passerby, Polpo's stand Black Sabbath is activated, which pursues Giorno from the shadows, quite literally. Giorno is able to subdue Black Sabbath with the help of Koichi, passing Polpo's test and joining Passione. He is placed in the group of Bucciarati, who agrees to work with Giorno to take over the mob from within, and put an end to the Passione drug trade. Bucciarati is the superior of the four other members of Giorno's group, fellow Stand users Guido Mista, Leone Abbacchio, Narancia Ghirga, and Pannacotta Fugo. Throughout the span of the story, the group - suspicious of Giorno - soon discover his courage and generosity, and slowly warm to him.
After finding Polpo's amassed fortune following his death on the island of Capri, Bucciarati is promoted and his group is assigned a secret mission by the boss himself—escort his teenage daughter, Trish Una, safely to him. With the help of a Stand-using turtle, they fend off various attacks by Stand-using traitors within the mob, determined to overthrow the boss—only by kidnapping Trish can they hope to learn his identity. After traveling to Pompeii and Florence, they arrive in Venice to meet the boss at the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore on San Giorgio Maggiore island. However, while doing so Bucciarati discovers that the boss only wanted Trish brought to him so he could kill her himself—his intent was nothing more than to permanently conceal his identity. He alone tries to kill the Boss, in order for him and Giorno to achieve their goal, but realizes his Stand that can erase time and subsequently predict events is too powerful and decides to retreat. Bucciarati's group, minus Fugo, then join him in betraying the Boss and protect Trish so they can learn his identity. Even after Trish discovers her own Stand ability, they find themselves in the unenviable position of opposing all of the Passione gang in order to protect her.
They travel to the boss's hometown of Sardinia, after Trish informs them that that is where her mother met him. There, Giorno and company are contacted by someone who knows the boss's identity, but will only tell them in person. They travel to Rome to meet him, but the boss follows them there as well and kills him first. However, just before Jean Pierre Polnareff dies, he uses a Stand Arrow on his own Stand upgrading it to Silver Chariot Requiem, which gives it the ability to control people's spirits. It exchanges everyone's spirit with another, switching their bodies. Now in the turtle's body, Polnareff explains to the group about the Stand arrows and the boss's identity as Diavolo, which he knows having once fought him some years ago. However, as Polnareff is dead, Silver Chariot Requiem is out of control and will not allow anyone to get the arrow. The group and Diavolo, hidden in Mista's body alongside Trish's spirit because of the switch, chase after it. While Diavolo succeeds in defeating it, thanks to Bucciarati's sacrifice Giorno obtains the arrow and succeeds in upgrading his stand to Gold Experience Requiem to defeat Diavolo. His new power causes Diavolo to continuously experience death over and over. In the last scene, Giorno is seen, with Mista, having men kneel before him, suggesting he becomes the boss of Passione.
Giorno Giovanna (ジョルノ・ジョバァーナ, Joruno Jobāna, alternatively "Giorno Giovana")

He is Dio Brando's illegitimate son (originally named Haruno Shiobana before having it changed when he moved to Italy), conceived through Jonathan Joestar's body, and thus bears similarities to both men both in terms of appearance and personality. In his childhood he was neglected heavily by his mother and beaten by his stepfather behind his mother's back. Giorno was also a common target for street thugs, which led to him becoming withdrawn. This all changed however when he discovered a bloodied man lying in the grass. Several men approached him asking if he had seen the bloodied man, but Giorno (thinking the man was like him) lied to them and unconsciously activated his Stand, Gold Experience, which grew the grass surrounding the man as to mask his presence. Two months after that incident, the man Giorno saved returned to him stating he could never forget what Giorno did for him. The man revealed himself to be a gangster; as a returning favor for Giorno saving his life he began to watch over him from the shadows. He stopped Giorno's stepfather from beating him, helped him become popular with people his age, and stopped Giorno from being targeted by thugs. This led him to develop the dream to become a "Gang-Star" (combining "Gangster" and "Superstar"). Over time, Giorno became calm, highly self-confident and prone to careful strategics. He then aspires to overthrow Passione's Boss in order to turn the gang into an organization which helps the people of Italy. His Stand is named Gold Experience
(ゴールド・エクスペリエンス, Gōrudo Ekusuperiensu, renamed "Golden Wind" in the international release of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle), which has the ability to imbue things with "life". It later gets upgraded to Gold Experience Requiem
(ゴールド・エクスペリエンス・レクイエム, Gōrudo Ekusuperiensu Rekuiemu), arguably one of the most powerful Stands in the JoJo universe, which has the ability to return any kind of process back to a state of "zero", nullifying any desired action.
Bruno Bucciarati (ブローノ・ブチャラティ, Burōno Bucharati, for alternative names see below)

He makes his first appearance as a member of the mafia group Passione, interrogating Giorno about the death of another gang member, "Leaky Eye" Luka. Afterwards, Giorno convinces Bucciarati to help him overthrow the boss of Passione, in order to take over the gang. Eventually defecting from Passione, Bucciarati leads a group of rogue gang members against the boss, who is revealed to be a man named Diavolo. As a child, Bucciarati was born in a poor fishing village, but he looked up to his father because of the love he had for his family. When his father became mixed up in the drug business and was badly injured, Bucciarati protected his father from the people that were trying to kill him, by killing them himself. This led him into the world of gangsters. Even though he was a member of the gang "Passione", he had a kind personality, so many people came to him for help. Bucciarati's Stand is Sticky Fingers
(スティッキィ・フィンガーズ, Sutikkī Fingāzu, renamed "Zipper Man" in All Star Battle). It has the ability to place a fully functional zipper on any object just by touching it. For example: Sticky Fingers can hit a wall, placing a zipper on it. It can then open the zipper, allowing entrance through or into the wall. Its ability is not limited to inanimate objects; it can be used on humans as well. Bucciarati is even able to use this ability on himself if needed. Its ability can also be used offensively, to take things apart, or to mismatch various objects. Bucciarati delivers his catch phrase while his Stand beats his opponents senseless with its fists. He begins stringing "Ari ari ari" to its rapid punches, saying "Arrivederci" as a finisher; "Arrivederci" meaning "Goodbye" in Italian. Later in the series, when Bucciarati's body begins to decompose, it is revealed that he was in fact dead after his encounter with Diavolo in Venice, and that Giorno's Gold Experience was prolonging his life (at first unintentionally) for a while.

Leone Abbacchio (レオーネ・アバッキオ, Reōne Abakkio)

A member of Bucciarati's gang, Abbacchio is a former policeman who aspired to protect people until a fellow policeman is killed as a result of him accepting bribes. From then on, he had no hope of living and decided to join the gang. His Stand Moody Blues
(ムーディー・ブルース, Mūdī Burūsu) can repeat the past of anything or any person like a 3-D video recording. While doing so, Moody Blues becomes an easy target for enemies to attack since it cannot defend itself when it is "rebroadcasting". Once it is out of "rebroadcasting" mode, it can attack again. Abbacchio is the first in the gang to be killed: he dies when he was attacked without warning by Diavolo as Doppio (in disguise as a soccer kid) in Sardinia.

Guido Mista (グイード・ミスタ, Guīdo Misuta)

Another member of Bucciarati's gang. When he was younger, he had a run-in with a group of gangsters, and was shot at. All of the gangster's shots mysteriously missed, giving Mista the opportunity to pick up a gun, take aim, and shoot them all in the head. It is revealed that this was the beginning stages of the effect of his Stand, Sex Pistols. He was sentenced to prison for the rest of his teenage years, although he was eventually bailed out by Bucciarati. Mista uses a revolver as his firearm in tandem with his Stand, Sex Pistols
(セックス・ピストルズ, Sekkusu Pisutoruzu, renamed "Six Bullets" in All Star Battle) which is composed of six bullet-like "people" living inside a gun, numbered from 1 to 7 (with no number 4, as Mista believes the number 4 is unlucky due to events from his childhood and the character for 4 in Japanese sounding similar to the word "die".). Mista can control the bullets so they can go in any direction and can do tasks when instructed to. Each "person" has different personalities; they love to eat, and if not fed, will not work.
Narancia Ghirga (ナランチャ・ギルガ, Narancha Giruga)
Voiced by: Yuuko Sanpei (ASB, EoH), Fujiko Takimoto (PS2 game)
A member of Bucciarati's gang. Narancia's mother died of a sickness, and his father dismisses him as a loser. At age 14 he was wandering around and was picked up by Fugo and from there he met Bucciarati. Narancia was so overwhelmed with Bucciarati's kindness that he vowed to follow him forever. His Stand Aerosmith
(エアロスミス, Earosumisu, renamed "Li'l Bomber" in All Star Battle) is an airplane-like Stand, equipped with machine guns and missiles to attack enemies. It can use a radar to detect an enemy's position. However, it can only detect carbon dioxide, which makes it a problem when there is a big crowd. Like Bucciarati, Narancia delivers his finishing line in segments. He says "vola, vola, vola..." during his rapid-fire attack and ends with "Volare via" (Italian for "Flying Away") when he finishes. He is stealthily killed by Diavolo while in Giorno's body preparing for the final battle.
Pannacotta Fugo (パンナコッタ・フーゴ, Pannakotta Fūgo)
Voiced by: Hisafumi Oda (ASB, EoH), Hisao Egawa (Purple Haze, ASB), Hiroaki Miura (PS2 game)
He is Bucciarati's right-hand man in the gang. His Stand is Purple Haze
(パープル・ヘイズ, Pāpuru Heizu), a humanoid with a violet-and-white diamond pattern skin and a glass-like gladiator's helmet. Its main form of attack comes from the three globes on the back of its hands, each of which contains a powerful "Delay virus". The globes will break when they strike something, or if its strike is not stopped properly (i.e. if the globe detaches from the stopped fist). Once this happens, the virus will spread and rapidly devour organic matter—a human body will be annihilated in about 30 seconds. However, the virus is destroyed by sunlight. Purple Haze is difficult for Fugo to control in even the best of situations, since it shares his hair-trigger temper (and mania for cleanliness). The conflict between these two traits may explain the virus' aggressive nature. Fugo leaves Bucciarati's group on San Giorgio Maggiore island, opting not to follow them and betray the Boss.
Fugo is later the main character of the novel
Purple Haze Feedback, where he rejoins Passione under Giorno, but he is sent to deal with the drugs team as atonement for his previous betrayal and to test his new loyalty. His Stand evolves into Purple Haze Distortion
(パープル・ヘイズ・ディストーション, Pāpuru Heizu Disutōshon) as a result of seeing Sheila E get viciously attacked by Massimo Volpe, and it gains the ability to fire the globes on its hands out at a target, and the virus they contain now devour other viruses in the vicinity, cancelling out any illness suffered by the target, and it can even cancel out its own virus, thus saving people from harm from the original virus.
Trish Una (トリッシュ・ウナ, Torisshu Una)
Voiced by: Nao Tōyama (EoH), Rio Natsuki (PS2 game)
She is the daughter of the gang's boss, Diavolo, and was living a normal life before she found out who her father was. From then on, she was forced to be on the run from rival factions within her father's gang. They are attempting to capture her in the hope that she could somehow lead them to the Boss. She is also on the run in order to finally meet her father in person. When she finally got to her father, she learned that he actually wanted to kill her so that all his ties with the past would be erased, including the people related to him. On her journey with Bucciarati's gang, she awakens her Stand power that was laying dormant within herself. The Stand Spice Girl
(スパイス・ガール, Supaisu Gāru) can greatly increase an object's elasticity, making it nearly indestructible.
Sorbet (ソルベ, Sorube) and Gelato (ジェラート, Jerāto)
Two members of the Assassination Team who were a gay couple. Before the story began, the two sought out the identity of the Boss. When their betrayal was discovered, Sorbet was embalmed in formalin while he was still alive and then sliced into individual pieces while Gelato was forced to watch. The individual slices of Sorbet are slowly returned to the Assassination Team, followed by Gelato's severed head with his face still showing the shock of his lover being murdered in front of him.
Formaggio (ホルマジオ, Horumajio)
Voiced by: Tetsu Inada (PS2 game)
A levelheaded yet brash individual that attacks Narancia. His Stand is Little Feet
(リトル・フィート, Ritoru Fīto), a short humanoid whose entire head is somewhat skull-like, and has long, thin blades for index fingers. When Little Feet cuts someone with one of those blades, he and all the clothing he was wearing when cut will steadily shrink in size. Likewise, the target's Stand will lose power as size is lost. Formaggio can also use this ability on himself, and halt or undo the effect on any given person at will.
Illuso (イルーゾォ, Irūzō)

A confident and boastful man that attacks Giorno, Abbacchio, and Fugo. His Stand is Man in the Mirror
(マン・イン・ザ・ミラー, Man In Za Mirā). It appears to be wearing spiked biker's gear. Man in the Mirror creates an extradimensional space in a given area, using mirrored surfaces as gates to enter it. Illuso has perfect control over who or what can enter the space--he can even exclude someone's Stand while Man in the Mirror is pulling him into the space. However, this exclusion ability can backfire if he doesn't realize the true nature of what he's pulling in (e.g. while fighting Abbacchio, he thought he was pulling Abbacchio in, but it was really Moody Blues in Abbacchio's guise).
Pesci (ペッシ, Pesshi)
Voiced by: Shinya Fukumatsu (ASB, EoH), Tomohiro Nishimura (PS2 game)
A nervous and easily frightened member of La Squadra, who looks up to Prosciutto as a big brother figure. Together with Prosciutto, he attacks Bucciarati's team and is confronted by Mista and Bucciarati himself. His Stand is Beach Boy
(ビーチ・ボーイ, Bīchi Bōi, renamed "Fisher Man" in All Star Battle). This Stand takes the form of a fishing rod with a skull-shaped reel. The line can phase through any non-living thing, and sense living things in the immediate vicinity. The lure can also be affixed to a single place to await a victim. When a victim touches that area, Beach Boy will hook them, and begin burrowing into their body, usually aiming for the heart (Beach Boy is sensitive enough that Pesci can tell precisely where in the body the hook is). Any attack on the line itself is reflected back to whatever is on the hook, usually the attacker. After Prosciutto is mortally wounded, Pesci becomes cold and ruthless.
Prosciutto (プロシュート, Puroshūto)
Voiced by: Takuma Terashima (ASB, EoH), Takayasu Usui (PS2 game)
A focused and vengeful member of La Squadra, part of a tag team with Pesci whom he has a soft spot for and takes it upon himself to act as a mentor for. Together with Pesci, he attacks Bucciarati's team and is confronted by Mista and Bucciarati himself while the group is travelling on a train, resulting in his death when he is caught in and crushed by the train's wheels. His Stand is The Grateful Dead
(ザ・グレイトフル・デッド（偉大なる死）, Za Gureitofuru Deddo), a massive humanoid torso with no lower body. Instead, it trails wires from its "waist", and its entire surface is covered with evil-looking eyes. The eyes exude a vapor that rapidly accelerates living beings' aging. However, the aging is staved off by cold, meaning that women (who have a somewhat lower body temperature on average than men) age less rapidly, and, as Bucciarati discovers, one can completely avoid the effect by holding ice up to the affected areas. The aging process accelerates even further if The Grateful Dead actually makes physical contact with a victim. Prosciutto can choose whether he is affected; if so, his touch has the same effect as The Grateful Dead, and will reverse his own aging.
Melone (メローネ, Merōne)
Voiced by: Kenji Nojima (ASB, EoH), Hidenobu Kiuchi (PS2 game)
A disturbing and roguish man. His Stand is Baby Face
(ベイビィ・フェイス, Beibī Feisu), a computer that allows him to use a man and woman's blood samples to create a homonculus born from the woman, whose personality is imprinted upon the homonculus. The homonculus is then able to manipulate matter by transforming objects or people into cuboid building blocks which can be reformed into other objects. He controls the homonculus by communicating with it through his computer, but the homonculus is only a creation of his Stand, so it can act on its own and ignore Melone's instructions.
Ghiaccio (ギアッチョ, Giatcho)
Voiced by: Tatsuhisa Suzuki (ASB, EoH), Tomohiro Nishimura (PS2 game)
A short-tempered member of La Squadra that displays extreme outrage toward metaphors and phrases he cannot completely understand. Ghiaccio is also a devoted nationalist, bearing a deep grudge against foreigners over the lack of respect he perceives as being given to the Italian language, especially in comparison to French, the mere mention of which will cause him to fly into a murderous frenzy. His Stand is White Album
(ホワイト・アルバム, Howaito Arubamu). It is able to freeze anything in the range of 5 meters. Ghiaccio wears it as a thick suit of armor (complete with blades for skating on the ice he creates) which can protect him from any kind of physical attacks because of its thickness, though there is a breathing hole on the back of the suit's neck that leaves him vulnerable to any kind of projectile or piercing object that enters it. One of its attacks, Gently Weeps
(ジェントリー・ウィープス, Jentorī Wīpusu), freezes the very air around him, generating ice crystals strong enough to reflect bullets and making his attacks more vicious.
Risotto Nero (リゾット・ネエロ, Rizotto Neero)
Voiced by: Takaya Kuroda (EoH), Akira Negishi (PS2 game)
An assassin for Passione and the leader of La Squadra. The group was branded traitors after Sorbet & Gelato tried to find out the Boss's identity and subsequently decided to go after his daughter. A calculating and serious leader able to kill his targets without any kind of direct meeting nor interaction with them required. His Stand is Metallica
(メタリカ, Metarika), which appears in the form of hundreds of tiny bodies, each resembling a small metal strip with vestigial arms, one or two scars, and featureless faces. Metallica is normally bound to Nero's blood, from which it can project magnetic auras. These auras allow Nero to reshape the iron in the hemoglobin in blood. More specifically, he can manifest the iron into sharp and deadly objects such as razor blades, nails, and scissors directly inside his foe (apparently from memory, since the razor blades come with brand label etchings), and manipulate his own blood to create iron stitchings for any wounds he receives. One of Metallica's most dangerous qualities is that even if its target is not killed by being slashed and pierced by the created objects, the immense iron deficiency created in the victim's blood will probably be fatal in and of itself.
Squalo (スクアーロ, Sukuāro)
Voiced by: Norihisa Mori (EoH), Hidenobu Kiuchi (PS2 game)
One of the Boss' assassins, Squalo teamed with Tizziano to dispose of Bucciarati and company. His remote Stand is Clash
(クラッシュ, Kurasshu), a shark-like creature with metal plates and sharp teeth able to bite its victim and move instantaneously between liquids within a 1-5 meter range. Its power is weak, but enough to rip someone's throat out. It cannot move towards small, confined places, although its actual size depends on the body of water it is occupying. Due to the nature of their Stands, both Squalo and Tizziano could watch the Passione team from the building above and avoid any unnecessary contact.
Tizziano (ティッツァーノ, Tittsāno)
Voiced by: Ryuzou Ishino (PS2 game)
Under direct orders from the Boss, Tizziano partnered with Squalo to assassinate Bucciarati and company. His Stand is Talking Head
(トーキング・ヘッド, Tōkingu Heddo), a small squid-like being with a face and arms that latches onto a victims tongue, rendering them incapable of telling the truth. It has no power or speed whatsoever, but can extend its tongue to grab objects. The drawback is that if the victim realizes this, they can will themselves to (try to) speak about something, in a situation where Tizziano would expect them to speak of something else entirely, thus rendering him and Squalo off-guard (Meaning, the "lie" isn't about what Squalo and Tizziano think it is).
Carne (カルネ, Karune)
A portly individual sent by the Boss to eliminate Bucciarati and company. Carne approached the group whilst they were boarding a plane and allowed himself to be shot by Mista, thereby activating his Stand Notorious B.I.G.
(ノトーリアス・B・I・G, Notōriasu Bī Ai Jī, in the Shōnen Jump serialization, "B.I.G." is simply read as "Big" [Biggu] rather than an initialism). Upon its user's death, Notorious B.I.G. transformed into a hideous monster that devours flesh, attacking the fastest moving object in the vicinity. Notorious B.I.G. is a unique Stand due to its nature (having the user die in order to activate it powers) and its continued existence even after its user dies; it lives on in the Tyrrhenian Sea, attacking any boats moving faster than the waves.
Cioccolata (チョコラータ, Chokorāta)
Voiced by: Naoya Uchida (ASB, EoH), Ryuzo Ishino (PS2 game)
A madman that claims to only feel alive when watching someone else die a slow death. Cioccolata used to be a doctor before joining Passione, although he was fired for "accidentally" killing his patients. In reality he purposefully killed them, often not giving them enough anesthesia so they would wake up mid-surgery. Apparently he has a history of this, as a young man he would "care" for the elderly, although he did this only to force them into death and see their expression. His Stand is Green Day
(グリーン・ディ, Gurīn Dei). Green Day has the ability to produce a type of mold that can devour a person's body in seconds. Its drawback is that this mold can only reproduce in lower altitudes, thereby killing people faster if they descend in altitude. This makes him particularly dangerous when partnered with Secco's Oasis.
In his original appearances, he is named Cioccolato
(チョコラート, Chokorāto), but he is renamed in the tankōbon release.
Secco (セッコ, Sekko)
Voiced by: Hiro Shimono (ASB, EoH), Takayasu Usui (PS2 game)
A strange young man that was once a victim of Cioccolata but later became his partner. His Stand is Oasis
(オアシス, Oashisu). Oasis manifests itself as a full bodysuit that Secco wears. Its power is to turn the ground around into mud, allowing Secco to move quickly through it via swimming while his victims slowly sink downwards. Secco also has the peculiar ability to spit with extreme force, allowing him to swallow a handful of mud and spit it out, once the mud loses contact with him it turns back to stone, thus becoming a projectile dagger. His weakness is that he has to rely on sound to find his victims, a fact that Bucciarati takes advantage of when he bursts his eardrums.
Diavolo (ディアボロ, Diaboro)

The antagonist of the
Vento Aureo storyline. Has a second personality named Vinegar Doppio
(ヴィネガー・ドッピオ, Vinegā Doppio), as a result of there being two spirits in his body. He is the father of Trish Una and the boss of the gang Passione in Italy. In 1985, at age 19, he joins the dig group that discovered six Stand arrows in Egypt and steals them the next day. He sold five of them to Enya (from part 3
Stardust Crusaders), but kept one and after using it to give himself a Stand, started into the world of crime. He is obsessed with keeping his true identity and appearance a secret, to the point where he orders Bucciarati's gang to bring his daughter to him just so that he could assassinate her personally, therefore depriving his enemies of any clues as to his identity. His psyche is normally hidden inside the body and mind of his "underling" Doppio. When Diavolo's true personality and Stand come out, his body even changes shape and size, to his true appearance.
His Stand is King Crimson
(キング・クリムゾン, Kingu Kurimuzon, renamed "Emperor Crimson" in All Star Battle). It is a light-red humanoid Stand. King Crimson has the power to negate processes, leaving only their consequences. Activating this power causes a "time skip", where everything except Diavolo and his Stand is suddenly changed to be in the state they would have been a short time later (usually 3-10 seconds later). Time still flows normally for Diavolo, who can interact with the time-skipped objects for the amount of time that would have normally occurred (to Diavolo this appears in the form of the would-have-been intervening objects' states being superimposed on each other, in a fashion akin to
Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2). The nature of the time skip is such that, for example, a bullet that would have hit Diavolo will suddenly be shifted to be on his other side. Essentially, King Crimson establishes two intangible points on the timeline, then proceeds to erase what occurred between those two points, giving others the feeling that time has suddenly skipped forward without their knowledge; the people act "normally", but have no memory of what occurred during the erased portion of time, since it doesn't even exist. Diavolo himself is able to predict what will happen during the timeskip, part of a smaller iteration of King Crimson called Epitaph
(エピタフ, Epitafu) that exists as a second face on King Crimson's forehead, and use this advantage to dodge attacks. Diavolo can give this part of his Stand power to his alternate personality, Doppio, enabling Doppio to see several seconds into the future. One of the key weaknesses of King Crimson, as shown in his fight with Bucciarati, is that King Crimson is susceptible to past events, such as prepared traps and the like; King Crimson cannot erase the past or present, only the immediate future.
Polpo (ポルポ, Porupo)

Although serving a fifteen-year prison sentence, Polpo is still able to do work for Passione. He is the one who gives Bucciarati his orders, and is also specifically tasked with testing Passione recruits to see if they are worthy or not to join the gang. Although he claims to be looking for reliability, the real requisite is Stand-using ability. His shadow-based Stand Black Sabbath
(ブラック・サバス, Burakku Sabasu), tests recruits by tasking them with keeping a lighter aflame for 24 hours. The Stand emerges if the flame goes out and is re-lit and attacks by grabbing a person's shadow which causes them to be unable to move. It then pierces them with the Stand Arrow, if they have the ability to form a Stand then they do so, if they do not they die. If they return to Polpo, despite whether or not they actually keep it lit, they pass the test as it is simply a means to recruit members strong enough to develop Stands. Giorno kills Polpo by tricking him into shooting himself while attempting to eat a gun Giorno turned into a banana, destroying the Stand Arrow.
A character strongly resembling Polpo also appears in Araki's spin-off one-shot
Jolyne, Fly High with Gucci (2012), although he is not named.
Nunzio Pericolo (ヌンツィオ・ペリーコロ, Nuntsio Perīkoro)
Voiced by: Kentarō Itō (PS2 game)
Nunzio is Bucciarati's immediate superior in Passione, informing him and his team of their missions and reporting back to the boss. He is the one who gives Trish to the group to watch over her, and later provides them with Coco Jumbo. He kills himself when he begins to doubt in the boss.
Luca (ルカ, Ruka)
Nicknamed Leaky Eye Luca
(涙目のルカ, Namidame no Ruka), he tries to extort money out of Giorno before he joins Passione, as he is working the airport, traditionally Luca's area. Luca tries to attack him with a shovel, but because he strikes a frog Giorno had created using Gold Experience, Luca is killed by his own attack. His being put out of commission was looked into by Bucciarati, putting into motion the events leading Giorno to join Passione.
Mario Zucchero (マリオ・ズッケェロ, Mario Zukkēro)
Voiced by: Ryuzo Ishino (PS2 game)
A fellow gang member who attacks Bucciarati's group in order to find out where Polpo's hidden treasure is. His Stand is Soft Machine
(ソフト・マシーン, Sofuto Mashīn). It is a covert attack Stand armed with a rapier. Anything pierced by the rapier "deflates" like a pierced beach ball, eventually becoming a flat, flexible object. It's possible to overlay a deflated object on a similar whole object, and be able to switch between the two (as when Zucchero deflated his own boat and covered Bucciarati's with it). Because Soft Machine isn't very agile, Zucchero tries to confront living targets in a narrow space or take them by surprise.
Sale (サーレー, Sārē)
Voiced by: Hidenobu Kiuchi (PS2 game)
Zucchero's partner who attacks Bucciarati's group in order to find out where Polpo's hidden treasure is. His Stand is Kraft Work
(クラフト・ワーク, Kurafuto Wāku). Another humanoid Stand, with head armor that makes its mouth look like a skull's grin, and one spike on each side of its head. Kraft Werk has perfect control over kinetic vectors. It can force an object to stick to a particular surface, or be motionless with respect to something, whether it be a road, a moving truck, or Sale himself. It can also make moving objects suddenly stop (e.g. stopping a bullet before it penetrates Sale's skull), and impart kinetic force to stopped objects. For example, Sale will sometimes make an object match his velocity perfectly, turning them into weapons of his own to use against opponents.
Coco Jumbo (ココ・ジャンボ, Koko Janbo)
Not much is known about the turtle Coco Jumbo himself, but his Stand is named Mr.President
(ミスター・プレジデント, Misutā Purejidento). Mr.President replaces the topmost plate of its user's shell with a key-like object that leads to a fully furnished room. Mr.President is in fact an extra-dimensional space that can comfortably contain 5-7 people, and is equipped with furniture, reading material, and even a refrigerator and television (which somehow receive power and broadcasts). Also, spirits that are within Mr.President cannot be forcibly removed so long as Coco Jumbo lives. In order to enter or exit Mr.President, a gem-like key must be placed in the opening in Coco Jumbo's shell. The one thing this space is lacking is a bathroom, which has been proven to be a problem for its inhabitants.
Coco Jumbo is not given a name until it is listed in the art book
JoJo A-Go!Go!. It is also in this time that the Stand's name is changed from T-Rex
(T-レックス, Tī Rekkusu), named after the British band.
Jean Pierre Polnareff (ジャン＝ピエール・ポルナレフ, Jan Piēru Porunarefu)

A Returning hero from the third story arc,
Stardust Crusaders, Jean Pierre Polnareff sends the arrow that can upgrade a Stand to Giorno's gang. Two years prior to this arc he lost a battle with Diavolo over the Stand-giving arrows and was left crippled, only being able to move with a wheelchair and the aid of his Stand. When his body is killed by Diavolo, Polnareff upgrades his Stand to Silver Chariot Requiem right before to give himself a chance to continue on and tell Giorno and company what has transpired. Silver Chariot Requiem has the ability to control people's spirits, such as switching the spirits of two people into each other's bodies or control one's Stand/spirit to attack themselves. Because Polnareff dies, Silver Chariot Requiem is uncontrollable, doing anything to uphold his last command, protect the Stand arrow. Polnareff's spirit lives on inside the Stand turtle, although he cannot leave it.
Koichi Hirose (広瀬 康一, Hirose Kōichi)

A returning character from the previous story arc,
Diamond Is Unbreakable. He only makes an extended cameo in the beginning, having received a mission from Jotaro Kujo to find Giorno and question him about his ties to Dio Brando.
Scolippi (スコリッピ, Sukorippi)

A man whose girlfriend's father asks Bucciarati to investigate over her death. His Stand is Rolling Stone(s)
(ローリング・ストーン（ズ）, Rōringu Sutōn(zu)). The Stand is not controlled by the user, it predicts how people will die by forming into a sculpture of that person at the time of their death. The stone then chases this person, if they are touched by it they die peacefully instead of how it predicted.
Jotaro Kujo (空条 承太郎, Kūjō Jōtarō)

The protagonist of Stardust Crusaders he has a cameo where he sends Koichi to find Giorno to check his connections with DIO.
Coniglio (コニーリオ, Konīrio)
Coniglio is a 17-year-old girl who is the user of a Stand known as The Cure
(ザ・キュアー, Za Kyuā), which takes the form of a small rabbit and has the power to heal any disease instantly, although if left unchecked The Cure will go insane and release all of the diseases and toxins it has collected. When she heads to Venice, Sogliola Lopez uses her in his plan to eliminate Bucciarati's team. This causes her to lose control of The Cure, and resulting in her passing out. Giorno later helps her realize it is not her fault as to what has happened, and in the end she moves to Illinois.
Rigatoni (リガトニ)
Rigatoni is a former hitman in Passione who has to be partnered with a Stand user in order to use his Stand Public Image Limited
(パブリック・イメージ・リミテッド, Paburikku Imēji Rimiteddo), which gives a shark-like appearance to a sniper bullet that when it hits a Stand user takes away their powers. He seeks revenge against Guido Mista, and gladly helps Sogliola Lopez work to kill Bucciarati's team. He is killed by a combination from Giorno and Mista's attacks.
Sogliola Lopez (ソリョラ・ロペス, Soryora Ropesu)
Sogliola Lopez, nicknamed Old Man Seppia
(セッピア老人, Seppia-rōjin), is the leader of Passione in Venice. Due to the weakness of his Stand Joy Division
(ジョイ・ディヴィジョン, Joi Divijon), which only allows him to switch the positions of objects touched by his right hand and left hand, he was not given a high position within Passione. Instead, he cultivates the Old Man Seppia persona to make himself seem more intimidating to the Venice police. When Bucciarati's team heads to Venice, the boss entrusts Sogliola to kill the group, recruiting Fugo Panacotta, who recently quit Bucciarati's team, Rigatoni, and the innocent girl Coniglio into his plans, but he is thwarted when Fugo double-crosses him, and Bucciarati kills him.
Scilla Capezzuto (シィラ・カペッツート, Sira Kapettsūto)
Scilla, codename Sheila E
(シーラE, Shīra E, after Sheila E.), is seeking revenge on Illuso for the death of her sister, and joins Passione as a bodyguard to the new boss Giorno. She joins Fugo in his job from Giorno to take out the Drug Team, after it is revealed she worked with the Assassination Team at some point. Her Stand Voodoo Child
(ヴードゥー・チャイルド, Vūdū Chairudo) causes a pair of lips to appear wherever it punches, acting as a recording device if it hits an inanimate object, but if it hits a person the lips begin to attack the target emotionally.
Cannolo Murolo (カンノーロ・ムーロロ, Kannōro Mūroro)
Canollo is a member of Passione's data analysis team who are responsible for assisting the assassination team in restoring the disk that Ghiaccio went after. To atone for his sins, Giorno sends him with Fugo and Sheila E after the drugs team, as well as being sent on a secret mission to destroy the last remaining Stone Mask hidden by the Nazis on an island in Syracuse. His Stand All Along Watchtower
(オール・アロング・ウォッチタワー（劇団〈見張り塔〉）, Ōru Arongu Wottchitawā) takes the form of a deck of playing cards that turn into sentient creatures to do his bidding, after he makes a house of cards out of them. The cards seem to give him a clairvoyant ability, but he really uses them to track down traitors. Due to his Stand's nature as a deck of cards, Cannolo does not receive the full damage of an attack on his Stand, as it is divided evenly amongst all 52 cards.
Gianluca Pericolo (ジャンルッカ・ペリーコロ, Janrukka Perīcolo)
Nunzio's son who takes a similar position to his father in Giorno's new Passione after he shows loyalty to Giorno and seems to stabilize the group after Giorno's coup. Like his father, he possesses no Stand.
Massimo Volpe (マッシモ・ヴォルペ, Masshimo Vorupe)
Massimo is in charge of producing the drug within Passione's drugs team, using a side effect of his Stand Manic Depression
(マニック・デプレッション, Manikku Depuresshon), which has a normal ability to increase an organism's biological functions if it pierces someone with its thorns, which injects them with a powerfully addictive opiate made from salt. This can range from causing someone's heart to give out for beating too fast, causing an upset stomach, or even increasing someone's physical prowess to the level of a vampire. This effect only works within the Stand's range, otherwise the drug simply turns back into salt. He is also interested in the research of the Nazis shortly before the second World War, in particular the Stone Mask, as his Stand weakens himself and he believes that by becoming a vampire he can use Manic Depression to its absolute limit. He is also jealous of his brother's prowess in his own skills, and his brother is revealed to be Tonio Trussardi from
Diamond Is Unbreakable. He is killed as a result of Purple Haze Distortion's new virus.
Vittorio Cataldi (ビットリオ・カタルディ, Bittorio Katarudi)
Vittorio is a 16-year-old member of the Passione drug team who is part of the group sent to track down the Stone Mask in Syracuse. His body is covered in scars caused by the use of his Stand Dolly Dagger
(ドリー・タガー, Dorī Dagā), on himself, which allows him to transfer 70% of the pain and injuries sustained to himself to whoever is reflected in the blade. When Murolo destroys the Stone Mask, he is enraged, and in the ensuing battle he loses too much blood and dies, while Cannolo only receives a small cut. After his death it is revealed that Dolly Dagger isn't actually the dagger itself, but rather was merely possessing a rusty knife.
Angelica Attanasio (アンジェリカ・アッタナシオ, Anjerika Attanashio)
Angelica is a 16-year-old member of the drugs team who is suffering from an incurable neurological disorder that she requires constant drugging to relieve the pain from. She is kept on the drugs team due to the abilities of her Stand Nightbird Flying
(ナイトバード・フライング, Naitobādo Furaingu), which can inflict a fatal drug addiction into whoever it targets. She is deeply indebted to Massimo as Manic Depression's opiate allieviates her pain.
Vladimir Kocaqi (ヴラディミール・コカキ, Vuradimīru Kokaki)
Vladimir is the 70-year-old leader of the drugs team, who was a member of a gang long before he joined Passione, and may have even had the ability to oust Diavolo as its leader then. He is deeply haunted by the death of his sister during the second World War, which was also the moment that he awoke his Stand. He is responsible for sending the assassination team after Giorno and the others in the past, and now operates out of Taormina to seek out the Stone Mask and continue the drugs team work. His Stand Rainy Day, Dream Away
(レイニーデイ・ドリームアウェイ, Reinī Dei Dorīmu Awei) distorts reality within a light rain it creates, causing any thought held within the rain to become the truth, from as little a doubt as "I think I might die" to "I cannot defeat the enemy", this idea will become reality.
The first chapter title of each pair is the title that is used in the volumization of Vento Aureo. The second title is the title used in the original serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump. Chapters 437, 438, and 439 are part of Diamond Is Unbreakable.
The novel Le Bizzarre Avventure di GioGio II: Golden Heart/Golden Ring (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 II ゴールデンハート/ゴールデンリング) written by Gichi Ōtsuka and Miya Shōtarō, was released on May 28, 2001 and is based on Part 5. It received an Italian translation and release in 2004. A second novel based on this Part was written in 2011 as part of the anniversary of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Purple Haze Feedback (恥知らずのパープルヘイズ -ジョジョの奇妙な冒険より-, Hajishirazu Pāpuru Heizu -JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken yori-, literally "Shameless Purple Haze") was written by Kouhei Kadono and released on September 16, 2011.
The 2002 PlayStation 2 video game Le Bizzarre Avventure di GioGio: Vento Aureo was released in Japan in 2002, adapting the arc.
