Uttaranchal University is located in Dehradun near the Indian Military Academy(IMA) and is spread over an area of more than 20 acres. The institute was established in June 2006 with only 4 disciplines of engineering viz. "Computer Science and Engineering", "Electronics and Communications Engineering", "Information Technology" and "Electrical and Electronics Engineering". "Mechanical Engineering" was added the succeeding year of establishment and "Civil Engineering" from 2011 onwards.
It has a serene and lush Green Campus Located on NH-72.
UIT offers undergraduate program of engineering in six streams and post graduate program in management.Recently the institute was granted the status of a private university by the state government.Now it has been renamed as "Uttaranchal University".Many of the students got gold medal in Uttarakhand Technical University's convocation.
