Uluberia subdivision

Uluberia subdivision is a subdivision of the Howrah district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Uluberia municipality and nine CD blocks: Uluberia–I, Uluberia–II, Amta–I, Amta–II, Udaynarayanpur, Bagnan–I, Bagnan–II, Shyampur–I and Shyampur–II. The nine blocks contain 90 gram panchayats and six census towns. The subdivision has its headquarters at Uluberia.

Area

Apart from the Uluberia municipality, the subdivision contains six census towns and rural areas of 90 gram panchayats under nine CD blocks: Uluberia–I, Uluberia–II, Amta–I, Amta–II, Udaynarayanpur, Bagnan–I, Bagnan–II, Shyampur–I and Shyampur–II. The six census towns are: Khalor, Bagnan, Naupala, Santoshpur, Balaram Pota and Uttar Pirpur.

Uluberia–I block

Rural area under Uluberia–I block consists of nine gram panchayats: Bahira, Hatgachha–I, Kalinagar, Chandipur, Hatgachha–II, Maheshpur, Birshibpur,Dhulasimla, Heerapur and Tapna. There is no urban area under this block. Uluberia police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Uluberia.

Uluberia–II block

Rural area under Uluberia–II block consists of eight gram panchayats: Baniban, Khalisani, Tehatta–Kantaberia–I, Tehatta–Kantaberia–II, Basudevpur, Raghudevpur, Joargori and Tulsiberia. Urban area under this block consists of three census towns: Santoshpur, Balaram Pota and Uttar Pirpur. Uluberia police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Kusberia.

Amta–I block

Rural area under Amta–I block consists of 13 gram panchayats: Amta, Bhandargachha, Khosalpur, Udang–II, Anulia, Chandrapur, Raspur, Balichak, Kanpur, Sirajbati, Basantapur, Khardah and Udang–I. There is no urban area under this block. Amta police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Amta.

Amta–II block

Rural area under Amta–II block consists of 14 gram panchayats: Amragori, Ghoraberia Chitnan, Khalna, Tajpur, Bhatora, Jhamtia, Kasmoli, Thalia, Binola Krishnabati, Jaypur, Kusberia, Gazipur, Jhikhira and Noyapara. There is no urban area under this block. Jaypur and Amta police stations serve this block. Headquarters of this block is in Jaypur Fakirdas.

Udaynarayanpur block

Rural area under Udaynarayanpur block consists of 11 gram panchayats: Bhabanipur Bidhichandrapur, Harali Udaynarayanpur, Khila, Rampur–Dihibhursut Asanda, Kurchi Shibpur, Debipur, Harishpu,Raghunathpur, Garbhabanipur–Sonatala, Kanupat Mansuka, Pancharul and Singti. There is no urban area under this block. Udaynarayanpur police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Udaynaryanpur.

Bagnan–I block

Rural area under Bagnan–I block consists of ten gram panchayats: Bagnan–I, Baksihat, Haturia–II, Sabsit, Bagnan–II, Bangalpur, Kalyanpur, Bainan, Haturia–I and Khalore. Urban area under this block consists of two census towns: Khalor and Bagnan. Bagnan police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Bagnan.

Bagnan–II block

Rural area under Bagnan–II block consists of seven gram panchayats: Antila, Chandrabhag, Mugkalyan Benapur, Bantul–Baidyanathpur, Saratchandra, Halyan and Orphooli. Urban area under this block consists of one census town: Naupala. Bagnan police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Khalor.

Shyampur–I block

Rural area under Shyampur–I block consists of ten gram panchayats: Balichaturi, Belari, Kamalpur, Shyampur, Baneswarpur–I, Dhandali, Nabagram, Baneswarpur–II, Dingakhola and Radhapur. There is no urban area under this block. Shyampur police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Shyampur.

Shyampur–II block

Rural area under Shyampur–II block consists of eight gram panchayats: Amardaha, Bargram, Dihimondalghat–II, Nakol, Bachhri, Dihimondalghat–I, Kharuberia and Shashati. There is no urban area under this block. Shyampur police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Sasati.

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal, the Uluberia municipality area and the gram panchayats of Khalisani and Raghudevpur under the Uluberia–II block will together form the Uluberia Purba assembly constituency of West Bengal. All the other six gram panchayats under the Uluberia–II block and eight gram panchayats under the Amta–I block: Amta, Bhandargachha, Chandrapur, Khardah, Raspur, Sirajbati, Udang–I and Udang–II, will together form the Uluberia Uttar assembly constituency. The other five gram panchayats under the Amta–I block will form the Udaynarayanpur assembly constituency along with the area under the Udaynarayanpur block. The Uluberia–I block and the gram panchayats of Belari, Dhandali, Balichaturi and Nabagram under the Shyampur–I block will together form the Uluberia Dakshin assembly constituency. The other six gram panchayats under the Shyampur–I block and all the eight gram panchayats under the Shyampur–II block will together form the Shyampur assembly constituency. The Bagnan–II block and the gram panchayats of Bagnan–I, Bagnan–II, Bangalpur, Haturia–I, Haturia–II and Khalore of the Bagnan–I block will form the Bagnan assembly constituency. The other four gram panchayats under the Bagnan–I block and the Amta–II block will together form the Amta assembly constituency. The Uluberia Uttar constituency will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates. All these seven assembly constituencies will together form the Uluberia (Lok Sabha constituency).
