Nagachaitanya inagurates uba pro basketball league season 4


The UBA Pro Basketball League is the first professional men's professional basketball tournament in India organized by United Basketball Alliance of India also known as UBA India. The main aim of the UBA is to promote the sport of basketball at the grassroots level in India by getting professionals teams into the game.

Chennai Slam were crowned inaugural champions of UBA Pro Basketball League by beating Pune Peshwas 81-49 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.

Format

The UBA Pro Basketball League is structured on a league cum knockout basis with final.

  • 2015: 8 franchise teams were divided into two divisions North and South. Teams played in double round-robin format during the regular season with teams within their respective division. Top two teams with the best records in league matches from each divisions were advanced to into the finals. The finals included only two semi-finals and the final. Inaugural season was held from 17 July - 30 July 2015 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, Telangana.
  • 2016: From second season, the UBA schedule was each of its teams playing an equal number of regular season games with their won-loss records used to qualify for the league’s post-season. Each team will play each of its division opponents four times along with one cross division opponent, which will rotate each season. Each division will stage a one game play-in between its second and third place teams with the winner to face the first place team in a best-of-three semi final followed by a best-of-three final between the division winners to determine the UBA Champion.
