Tylomelania neritiformis is the type species of the genus Tylomelania. This type species was subsequently designated by Johannes Thiele in 1929.

Description
The shell is small and thick. The spire is short. The color of the shell is black with an violet tint. The shell has five whorls.
The width of the shell is 13.5 mm. The height of the shell is 19 mm. The width of the aperture is 8 mm. The height of the aperture is 11.5 mm.
