"Touch It" was the lead single from Monifah's second album, Mo'hogany. The R&B/dance hybrid was produced and written by Jack Knight and Screwface, who used a sample of Laid Back's 1983 hit, "White Horse".

Released as a single in the summer of 1998, the song became a worldwide hit, and was a top-40 hit in several countries. In the U.S., it went reached number 9 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and on the R&B charts. "Touch It" was Monifah's highest peak position on the U.S. charts (though it did not reach a gold certification like her 1996 hit "You") and was her only single to reach the Billboard Year-End charts, reaching 77 on the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1998. The song may also be remembered for its colorful music video that featured Monifah performing the song in front of the United States armed forces.
