Wilson started gymnastics at the age of four and remained at her original gymnastics club, Gold Cup Gymnastics, throughout her entire club career. Tory graduated from La Cueva High School in 2011, graduating a year earlier than the rest of her class. In August, she started attending University of Utah and was seventeen at the time.

Club competitive career

Wilson won the 2009 J.O. NIT competition. Her first J.O. Nationals appearance was in 2010; placing 9th in the Junior D division. In 2011, her senior year, she qualified to the Nastia Liukin Cup and finished 18th. She then tied for fourth at J.O. Nationals with future Utah teammate, Breanna Hughes. Wilson made the J.O. National team.

Tory trained under the tutelage of Ed and Kay Burch at Gold Cup Gymnastics for her entire career.

2012 season: Freshman

Wilson was mainly used on vault during the 2012 season but also found contribution opportunities on floor, with two performances during regular season. She was ranked 43rd nationally at the end of the season. She achieved a season-high, which was then, her career-high, score of 9.950 during the 2012 NCAA Super Six.

2013 season: Sophomore

Wilson impacted the team considerably during her Sophomore season in 2013. She garnered 15 victories during the regular season, four new career highs, and hit 46-49 routines. She won vault in all ten meets during the regular season; making her the first Utah gymnast to ever go undefeated on an event. She scored a perfect 10.0 against Cal Golden Bears. Nationally, she was ranked third on vault and 18th in the all-around.

2014 season: Junior

Wilson was crowned Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year in 2014. During regular season, Tory hit 50-52 routines and had 12 victories. She did a full twisting double layout during a meet against at Washington Huskies, on floor, and was only the third person in NCAA history to have attempted this. At the end of season, Wilson was ranked 2ndT on vault and 12th in the all-around.

2015 season: Senior

Her senior year, in 2015, was bittersweet. During regular season, Wilson contributed significantly to the Red Rocks team and nationally, was ranked 8th on vault and 9th in the all-around. She was having a great season until she suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and a Lisfranc fracture, which sidelined her for the rest of the championship season, thus not being able to compete at Nationals. It was a sad loss for the team as she was one of the team captains, along with senior standout Georgia Dabritz.
