The Toronto East Detention Centre often referred to as simply The East, is a remand facility located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the former borough of Scarborough. It is located to the southwest of Eglinton Avenue and Birchmount Road. The facility was known as the Metro East Detention Centre until the Metropolitan Municipality of Toronto was amalgamated in 1998.
