The Torneo del Litoral is an annual rugby union competition in Argentina. The competition involves clubs from Rosario, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos, and is one of several regional competitions held in Argentina every year.

Contents

Every year the Litoral's four top teams qualify for the Torneo del Interior, the national competition for clubs outside Buenos Aires.

Formula

The competition is open to all clubs from Rosario, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos, depending on their rankings the previous season. As a founding member of the URBA, Rosario's oldest club – Club Atlético del Rosario – take part in the Torneo de la URBA and do not take part in the Litoral tournament.

The 22 teams are split into two divisions, the Zona Campeonato and Segunda División, the first made up of 12 teams, the second of 10 teams. In the second half of the season, The Zona Campeonato starts again with 12 teams, concluding with semi-finals and a final. The bottom four clubs of the Zona Campeonato are placed in the Zona Reubicación, where they play to keep their places in the Zona Campeonato the following season, climaxing in a play-off with the second and third-placed teams of the Segunda División.

Finals

(1) No final disputed that year, a league system was used instead.
