Topchanchi Lake is located at 23°55′21″N 86°10′56″E.

Topchanchi CD Block has an area of 18,625.99 ha, out of which 8,135.19 is forest area. It has 28 panchayats and 126 villages.

As per 2011 Census of India, Topchanchi CD Block had a total population of 163,342, of which 111,982 were rural qand 51,360 were urban. There were 84,974 males and 73,368 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 19,346 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 10,465. Population below 6 years was 23,939.
