After playing Non-League football for Uxbridge, Brook House and Wembley, Readings attended trials on Wimbledon Common for the new A.F.C. Wimbledon club, set up by fans of the defunct Wimbledon F.C. in 2002. With Joe Sheerin injured, Readings then captained the club in its first ever League match; a 2–1 win at Sandhurst Town. In January 2003 Readings left to pursue a professional career in New Zealand.

On 14 February 2003 Readings helped North Shore United beat Napier City Rovers 7–2. The result was overturned to 0–2 because Readings was one of four guest players and New Zealand Soccer regulations permitted only three.

Coaching career

Readings has coached the New Zealand women's national under-20 football team and is the coach of the New Zealand women's football team coaching the side in the 2012 London Olympics.
