Tony Jamieson

Club

Jamieson is the captain and the most experienced player of Cook Islands Men's National Football Team. He is the goalkeeper, has been a part of the team since 2000 and has played 31 official internationals including Club World Cup international qualifiers. He uses number 1, for his kit.

Jamieson has taken part in four successive FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns for the Cook Islands, for the 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups. He started his club career in 1981 and has become a member of 9 clubs since then until 2012 (North Wellington United 1981–2000, Tupapa Maraerenga FC 2000–2001, Wellington Diamaonds United 2001–2005, Nadi FC – IDC tournament, 2005, Wairarapa United 2005–2007, Nikao Sokkatak FC, Wellington Olympic AFC 2007–2008, Stop Out FC 2008–2010, Island Bay United 2010–2011).

Jamieson started his career, as a junior player in Wellington, New Zealand playing for North Wellington AFC, in 1981, aged 7.

Nikao Sokkattack and Rarotonga F.C.

At the age of 27 he became player for Tupapa Maraerenga FC, a local club team in Rarotonga, part of Cook Islands, his mother's birth country. He played in the Cooks for 1 year and then, at the age of 27 and in 2001 was transferred to New Zealand club, Wellington Diamond United.

North Wellington Diamond United

He played there for 5 years, until the age of 31. New Zealand football, is the second most improved football, after Australian, of the Oceanian zone.

Nadi FC

In 2005, he became a player of Nadi F.C. in the IDC, Inter-district Cup Tournament.

His greatest football accomplishments have been to receive the man of the match awards in the two biggest internationals of his career. One against Australia in 2000 and the other against New Zealand in 2004. In both games the Cook Islands lost 17–0 and 2–0 respectively.

Jamieson is still playing football in Rarotonga, goalkeeping in the men's premier league competition for Nikao FC at the young age of 39 years. Tony was working for the Cook Islands Football Association in Rarotonga as the Technical Director of Football of the country.

International

Jamieson made his international debut for the Cook Islands in 2000. In 2007, Jamieson became infamous after sitting with the ball for over minute during a 2–0 defeat to Fiji.

Management career

In November 2011, Jamieson was appointed as technical director of the Cook Islands Football Association.

In February 2014, Jamieson was banned from all football-related activities by the Oceania Football Confederation for five years for several ethical breaches.
