He achieved national celebrity in the UK after appearing on the ITV talent show Opportunity Knocks in 1964. His act consisted of flexing his biceps and then his shoulder muscles to the music Wheels Cha-Cha. He won the show six times and went on to repeat his 'muscle dancing' act on Sunday Night at the London Palladium.

Tony started weightlifting when he was being bullied at school. His friend Jim Hallows helped him do the weightlifting. Tony was Jims best friend. When the bullies saw that Tony had got muscles they backed off.

Tony is now a born again Christian and now travels around churches telling people about Jesus and God and what an effect they had on his life. He is married to a lady who is also a Christian called Lorraine. Tony and Lorraine do what they call " Gospel magic" for the children to explain things about the bible.

Tony and Jim lost touch with each other when they left school. On a holiday to Weston super mare one of Jims friends happened to mention Tony. Jim said " He knew him well". They later ended up meeting again and Jim became a Christian to some years later.
