Agee attended Maplesville High School where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. He accepted a scholarship to play at Auburn University, where he became a four-year starter that was primarily used as the lead blocker for Bo Jackson and Brent Fullwood. Jackson gave credit for much of his college success to Agee's blocking.

His best season came as a freshman when he gained 606 yards on 115 carries for a 5.3 average and 4 touchdowns. He was the special teams captain as a senior. He finished his college career with 356 carries for 1,735 yards (4.9 average) and 10 touchdowns, 34 receptions for 336 yards and returned 10 kickoffs for a 21.5 yard average.

Seattle Seahawks

Agee was selected in the fifth round (119th overall) of the 1987 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, the same year as fellow Auburn running backs Brent Fullwood, Bo Jackson, and Tim Jessie.

As a rookie, he suffered a preseason knee injury and was placed on the injured reserve list.

Kansas City Chiefs

In 1989, he signed in Plan B free agency with the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent the first six weeks of the season on the injured reserve list, after injuring ligaments in his finger during the third preseason game.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys signed him as a Plan B free agent in 1990 and started 11 games at fullback after Daryl Johnston suffered a shoulder injury during preseason. In the following years, he would mainly be used on special teams and as the backup for Johnston who primarily did the blocking for Emmitt Smith.

On November 16, 1993, he was released to make room for running back Lincoln Coleman. He was re-signed the next year and would be a part of two Super Bowl winning teams during the Cowboys early 90's championship run, both of which against the Buffalo Bills.
