Tom Rooney is a Republican member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 27th district since his September 2016 appointment to replace outgoing Senator Matt Murphy. The 27th district includes parts of Arlington Heights, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Inverness, Palatine, Wheeling, Prospect Heights and South Barrington. Prior to his appointment, he served as Mayor of Rolling Meadows succeeding Ken Nelson and as a member of the Rolling Meadows city council.
