Prior to 20th century

  • 1596 - Settlement founded.
  • 1598 - Settlement named "Villahermosa".
  • 1677 - Regional seat of government relocated from Villahermosa to Tacotalpa.

  • Villahermosa becomes capital of State of Tabasco.
