Thomas McWhannell (17 March 1844 – 17 March 1888) was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. He was born 17 March 1844 at Lochearnhead, Perthshire, Scotland and arrived in Queensland in 1861. He married married JJessie McWhannell (née Morgan) 12 March 1979. Their children were Rodney, Isobel and Jessie. He died 17 March 1888 (Ashfield, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia)

Early life

Thomas McWhannell arrived in Queensland with his brother James in 1861 from Scotland. They were squatters for a period then purchased the following properties: Headingly, Rodney Downs, Undilla, Stoney Plains and Oban.

Career

He became the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Gregory North from 21 March 1882 until 21 March 1888. and was also President of the Graziers Association.
