The New York Sun, November 13, 2007

Ms. Coppola dazzlingly walks the walk she talks through the entire album, which adds up to an arresting work of breathless pop immediacy.-Brett McCabe

    Entertainment Weekly, November 9, 2007

This lovable Brooklyn misfit made a splash in '97 with her quirk-hop hit "Legend of a Cowgirl," in which she promised to "spend all my money on absolutely nothing" over a sample of Donovan's "Sunshine Superman". On "Black & White", she sings about springtime in NYC and the horror of a 30th birthday while fitting between ska, rap, electropop and punk. B+ -Mikael Wood

    The List, November 10, 2007

Imani Coppola is a lot of fun. This is the NYC lady's eighth album, and it eschews much of her sample-heavy traditional hip-hop for a kitchen sink approach, chucking every genre possible into the mix with highly entertaining results. It's all shot through with plenty of attitude, like early Neneh Cherry or Kelis, no small amount of humour, and bags of welcome sass.-Doug Johnstone

    Clash, December 2007

Drawing upon every genre under the sun, NYC based Coppola presents a daringly cohesive vision of 21st Century pop- flitting effortlessly between gleaming chart fare and gnarled hip-hop. 'The Black & White Album'is well worth indulging.

    Spin, November 2007

Imani Coppola "Woke Up White". In 1997, Coppola was a college kid who rapped, sang and rocked a violin on MTV. Now she hangs with Mike Patton and screams hilariously f**ked punk songs like this.
