History

The Armed Music The Armed

Slicer Dicer was a punk band formed in 2006 in Detroit, Michigan. Their shows were characterized by an energetic stage show featuring intense lighting and excitable stage antics from the band, including playing in the crowd and inciting the crowd to mosh with the band. They broke up in late 2008, but three of their members went on to form The Armed and have continued to have a similarly energetic live show.

They released their first full-length album, These Are Lights, on July 6, 2009. It was self-recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios and mastered by Nick Zampiello and Rob Gonella at New Alliance East.

In 2010, the band announced a new free EP titled Common Enemies, which was made available for free download on May 11, 2010. The album was also available for purchase from the band's website as a limited edition orange 7". The album features drummer Chris Pennie formerly of The Dillinger Escape Plan and, at the time, in Coheed and Cambria playing drums on one track, as well as saxophonist Mike Jones.

On September 25, 2011, The Armed released their next EP, Young & Beautiful. A music video was made for one of their most popular songs, and live staple, "Liar."

A year passed until their next release. Spreading Joy was released on December 11, 2012. Chris Pennie played drums on the entire album. Music videos were filmed for the songs "No Rest Until Ruin" and "Sterling Results."

A split 7" with Tharsis They was released on December 17, 2013.

On June 23rd 2015, the band released their second LP, Untitled for free on Bandcamp, which features drummer Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists, Sumac, A Textbook Tragedy) and was recorded and mixed once again by Kurt Ballou.

The band released their first live album, Unanticipated on June 17, 2016. The album was recorded over two performances in June and July 2015, one in Detroit and one in Chicago.
