History
Steve Hengsperger founded Tersano in 2002 from a company that had developed an ozone-based water treatment system. From this technology Hengsperger, who has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Waterloo, created another product that harnesses the power of ozone: the Lotus Sanitizing System. It infuses tap water with ozone creating a powerful sanitizing agent that is free of harsh chemicals.
In 2006 the product was ready for its launch after being approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and Underwriters Laboratory. Following its release the Lotus Sanitizing System sold approximately 20,000 units in 2006 and expected to sell more and more now that it has been picked up by several retailers such as Home Depot, Home Outfitters, Home Hardware, Sur La Table, Linens 'n Things and Costco.
It was declared one of the best inventions in 2006 by Time Magazine and has been highlighted in several other publications such as Today’s Parent, The Globe and Mail and The Washington Post. It has also received television media attention when the system was featured on an episode of “The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch”.

*High Capacity Wall-Mount Unit (HCU) The lotus® PRO High Capacity Unit transforms water into aqueous ozone on-the-spot. Produces a continuous flow of approximately 3 gallons of aqueous ozone per minute which is then easily transferred for use in mop buckets, floor cleaners and auto scrubbers. It provides residue-free performance for a longer-lasting clean and low slip/fall hazard on even the smoothest floors
*Dryer Jack The Tersano Dryer Jack separates items being dried causing them to tumble to the centre of the drum sooner in the drying cycle. This allows warm air to contact more surface area on the wet item. Tersano’s Dryer Jack offers its users a new and innovative way to lift and separate fabrics, reduce lint and wrinkles and reduce drying time from 10 to 40%.
