Kumar was crowned Miss World Malaysia 2016 in Kuala Lumpur on 27 August 2016. She represented Malaysia at Miss World 2016 in the United States on December 18, 2016. She was stripped of her title shortly thereafter in March 2017 for conduct unbecoming of a Miss World contestant due to posting "offensive" contents online as well as for breaching conduct and contract terms.
She is the daughter of a French mother and Indian father and attended the French School of Kuala Lumpur.
