Early life and education

Tara was born in Mumbai, India to a Indian author, playwright and the Golden Voice of India, Partap Sharma and British artist & author Sue Sharma. She studied at the Bombay International School, affiliated with the ICSE board, scoring the highest marks in her batch. Tara bagged a scholarship to the United World College of the Adriatic in Italy to pursue her International Baccalaureate (IB). Thereafter, she did her B.Sc in Management at the London School of Economics.
Career
After graduating from LSE, Sharma was a financial consultant at Citibank and Accenture. She appeared in advertisements for Lakme, Garnier and Pepsi, the latter included a commercial with Shah Rukh Khan and which proved to be a stepping stone into movies.

She debuted in Anupam Kher's Om Jai Jagadish, followed by Khosla Ka Ghosla, Page 3, Saaya, and Masti.
Sharma's father died in 2011. "Losing my father was devastating and made me strongly believe that no one really goes away but loved ones are always with us through their wonderful legacy of work, friends and family. Daddy is always with us, in our hearts." she said.

Soon after becoming a mother, inspired by her father's advice to always reinvent oneself and never stagnate, Sharma conceptualized and started her own multi-platform show, The Tara Sharma Show. The show has completed four successful season having aired on Pogo, NDTV Imagine, Colors, Nickelodeon and Star World.
Personal life
She married media entrepreneur Roopak Saluja, an INSEAD alumnus in November 2007. The couple have two sons.
