The Syracuse College of Arts and Sciences was established in 1870 as the founding college at Syracuse University. It houses three academic divisions: Sciences and Mathematics, the Humanities, and the Social Sciences. Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences is a selective liberal arts college. It is home to research centers and institutes such as the Center for Health and Humanities, the Moynihan Institute for Global Affairs, the Forensic and National Security Sciences Institute, and the Biomaterials Institute. The College sponsors the Africa Initiative.
