As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 26. Sursand (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Sursand, Charaut and Pupri community development blocks.

1977-2010

In the November 2010 state assembly elections, Shahid Ali Khan of JD(U) won the Sursand assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Jainandan Prasad Yadav of RJD. Jainandan Prasad Yadav of RJD defeated Baidyanath Prasad of BJP in October 2005 and February 2005. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Jainandan Prasad Yadav of JD(U) defeated Nagendra Prasad Yadav of RJD in 2000. Nagendra Prasad Yadav of JD defeated Ravindra Prasad Shahi of Congress in 1995. Ravindra Prasad Shahi of Congress defeated Nagendra Prasad Yadav, Independent, in 1990. Ravindra Prasad Shahi, Independent, defeated Nagendra Prasad Yadav of Congress in 1985. Nagendra Prasad Yadav of Congress defeated Ram Charitra Rai Yadav of Congress (U). Ram Charitra Rai Yadav of Congress defeated Ram Charitra Mandal of JP.
