ASDA'A Burson-Marsteller is one of the largest PR consultancies in the Middle East.

Personal life
Sunil John was born in Kundara, near Kollam in the state of Kerala, India. He earned his Bachelors in Science (1980) and Masters in Communication and Journalism (1982) from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He started life as an investigative journalist with the Deccan Chronicle, Hyderabad, before moving into the Public Relations sector with the Indian Oil Corporation in Mumbai and then with Thermax in Pune. He moved to Dubai, UAE, in 1994 to join the nascent PR sector in the Middle East region.
Career
Sunil John has been in the communications and public relations business for nearly three decades, including the last 19 years in the Middle East region. Sunil is the only person from the PR Industry on the list of the “Arabian Business Expat 50” Sunil has been named “2013's most powerful Indian expats in media” in the GCC by Arabian Business
Sunil John currently serves as the Founder and CEO of the Dubai-based public relations consultancy ASDA'A Burson-Marsteller. In 2013, ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller was named the Middle East & Africa PR Agency of the year by the New York-based International Business Awards. ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller is a part of the MENACOM Group, which is majority owned by WPP, a global communications firm headed by Sir Martin Sorrell, a multimillionaire British businessman. ASDA'A, which was founded in 1999 by Sunil John, merged with the global public relations firm Burson-Marsteller in 2008 to form ASDA'A Burson-Marsteller. Sunil continues to be a significant shareholder of the firm. ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller has eleven wholly owned offices and ten affiliates across the Middle East and North Africa. ASDA'A was hired to manage the public relations for the UAE National Election Committee, which oversees the country's first ever elections to the Federal National Council in 2006 and again in 2011.
Sunil John chaired the organizing committee of the 20th Public Relations World Congress held in Dubai from March 13–15, 2012.
Since 2008, Sunil leads the annual ASDA'A Burson-Marsteller Arab Youth Survey - the largest survey of its kind of the Middle East region's largest demographic.
Sunil previously served as the UAE National Chair of International Public Relations Association and Vice President of the IPRA Gulf Chapter. He also served on the Advisory Board of the College of Communications at Sharjah University.
Sunil John also serves as a director at DAR Motion Pictures, an India-based movie production and distribution company that currently has nearly a dozen feature films in production, some in partnership with international studios. He is also an investor in agricultural commodities in Africa, including through the ownership of a large-scale commercial farming business in Uganda.
