Su Ning (Chinese: 苏宁; pinyin: Sū Níng) (January 31, 1953 – April 29, 1991) was born in an official family, and he joined the army in 1969, and became a Communist in 1973. In the army, he worked as a soldier, a platoon leader, a company commander, a staff officer, and a battalion commander. In the 22-years he was in the army, he became a model of a soldier, a communist, and an official. As a soldier, he was the top one of training; as a monitor, he led his group to win the victory of the competition in military skills. Also he wrote more than 70 pages about the technology of the army.

Early life
Su Ning was born in Xiao Yi(Chinese: 孝义; pinyin: Xiào Yì) of Shan Xi(Chinese: 陕西; pinyin: Shǎn Xī) province. Because his father was a general of Chinese Army, he joined the army too after he was 18. He was a good leader in the corp, and he loved his career and his fellows. When he died, he was a major.
Life
Su Ning, to the party and to the motherland and the people, is a loyal person. On April 21, 1991, Su Ning was commanding a team to train how to throw live grenades. When it was the 12th Company's turn, a soldier threw the grenade. It hit a wall and came back. Su Ning shouted out for everyone to drop to the ground and he moved to pick it up and throw it away. As he picked it up, the grenade exploded. He was sent to hospital for treatment; after 8 days of treatment, he died and the soldier survived.
Title
In 1993, the Central Military Commission granted him the honorary title, "the Model of all officers dedicated to the modernization of national defence"(献身国防现代化的模范干部).
Corps named after him
The corp which Su Ning was in is awarded as "Su Ning Tuan"(Chinese: 苏宁团; pinyin: Sū Níng Túan). In recent years, Su Ning Tuan consciously practice "su ning spirit", positively contribute to the prosperity and development of the second home. In 1998,when the area of the Long River was flooded, where was the most dangerous place,where the red flag of Su Ning Tuan is inserted. The corp has completed many hard task successfully.
His son
When Su Ning was died,his son was only eight years old. In 1998, Su RenRen(Chinese: 苏任韧; pinyin: Sū Rénrèn) enlistmented to SuNingTuan. He received Military master's degree in 2007, and came back to SuNingTuan again.He successively held the post of a platoon leader,a company political instructor,and now he is a secretary of the corp's political department.
Film adaptation
The movie named as The Artillery Major (炮兵少校) is based on the stories of Su Ning. The director is Zhao Weiheng (Chinese: 赵为恒; pinyin: Zhào Wéihéng)，the scenarist are Hao Zhongsu(Chinese: 郝中夙; pinyin: Hǎo Zhōngsù) and Du Shoulin (Chinese: 杜守林; pinyin: Dù Shǒulín), the starring are Zhou lijing(Chinese: 周里京; pinyin: Zhōu lǐjīng) and Lv Xiaohe (Chinese: 吕晓禾; pinyin: Lǚ Xiǎohé). It was made a film by Changchun Film company(长春电影制片厂) in 1993.
