History

Stansefabrikken UAB was among the first foreign capital manufacturing companies to be established in Lithuania in 2003.

The company's history began with a Norwegian entrepreneur Magne Vidar Skorstad with his partners taking over Lillesand-based company Den Norske Stansefabrikken AS in 1985, which was undergoing bankruptcy proceedings. Several sheet-metal processing plants have been acquired, that could be used to punch out products from thin sheets of steel and put into operation in Norway. Considering the fact that over 50% of the output had been produced for export, a strong Norwegian krone was having a detrimental effect on the profitability by the year 2002. The company's management started looking for possibilities of relocation to a foreign market. Based on an overview of cost levels, macro-economic conditions and political stability throughout Central Europe, a 50-hectare industrial park in Ukmergė, Lithuania was chosen. The sheet-metal processing plants in Trondheim, Fredrikstad and Lillesand were closed and the production was eventually relocated to a factory set up in Lithuania in 2003, operated by Stansefabrikken UAB, a subsidiary of STAFA Industrier AS.

As of 2016, the floor area of the plant is over 10,000 square meters and the number of the staff is around 200.
