Southwestern Statistical Region

The Southwestern Statistical Region (Macedonian: Југозападен регион) is one of eight statistical regions of the Republic of Macedonia. Southwestern, located in the west and southwestern part of the country, borders Albania to the west. Internally, it borders the Pelagonia, Polog, Skopje, and Vardar statistical regions.

    The current population of the Southwestern statistical region is 221,546 citizens, according to the last population census in 2002.

    Ethnicities

    The largest group in the region is the Macedonians, followed by Albanians. Turks also account for a small population.
