Southern State Community College (known as SSCC) is a community college centrally based in Hillsboro, Ohio. The college is divided into four campuses located in Mount Orab ("Brown County campus"), Washington Court House ("Fayette campus"), Hillsboro ("Central campus"), and Wilmington ("North campus"). Southern State Community College was founded in February 1975 as Southern State General and Technical College. The name of the school was changed only a few years later in 1977 to the name it is known by now.

History

The school was chartered in 1975 as Southern State General and Technical College. A couple of years later in 1977, the name was changed to Southern State Community College.

Construction of facilitates carried on for many of the college's early years. In 1976, South Campus opened in Brown County while former Clinton County Air Force Base buildings were renovated to become North Campus near Wilmington.

In 1981, the college's administrative offices were moved from North Campus to Hillsboro.
