The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) is a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia that works to improve education in its 16 member states: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. SREB was founded in 1948 by the region's governors. Louisiana governor John Bel Edwards is the current board chair, having been elected at the board's 2016 annual meeting.
