Sobolo is a cool drink found in most West African countries. It is a dark red-purple coloured juice. The Burkinabes call it bissap while the Ghanaians, Nigeriens, Burkinabe and Nigerians call it sobolo. It tastes a bit grapey and a little bit like cranberry juice and can be served with mint leaves.

Preparation

Sobolo is prepared using water, Bissap flowers, sugar and ginger.


  • Wash your Bissap flowers in clean disinfect water
  • After that you put flowers into a hot water and stir
  • As you stir the water turns red
  • remove from fire,pour the drink into a strainer to separate the drink from the flowers
  • start to add sweetener like sugar, allow the drink to cool if it is still hot
  • refridgerate and serve
