Snake gorge oman

Snake Gorge, also called Wadi Bimah, is a gorge or wadi in the Ad Dakhiliyah Region of Oman. It is popular with hikers. It is a fantastic route for jumping off small cliffs into water pools. There are also natural waterslides. However, it is flashflood prone, and in the 1996 a small group of hikers drowned. In 2014 tourists from Dubai were trapped during rains surviving the nightmare on the rocks. Neglecting the bad weather forecast (events: rain, thunderstorm) they set out on Friday 4 April to the Snake Gorge and already after 40 minutes it began to rain flooding the area. The water kept rising while the tourists climbed on a rock being forced to stay there overnight facing the cold weather. Luckily, the water didn't reach where they were. At around 6 a.m. water levels were not so high which allowed to hike back. After two hours tourists have reached the mouth of the gorge finding ROP personnel and citizens waiting for them. One of their vehicles was washed away but all 11 tourists were found to be in good health. The Royal Oman Police and PACDA frequently try to prevent such tragedies by sending out weather warnings.
