Sita Ram Kattel (Nepali: सीता राम कट्टेल), popularly known by his serial name Dhurmus is a Nepali comedian, actor, script writer, and director. He was one of the main characters of the Nepali TV series Meri Bassai. He is considered as one of the Nepal's most talented and best comedian ever because he alone had played more than 24 roles in his own sitcom Meri Bassai. He also acted in the 2013 Nepali box office hit Chha Ekan Chha in a lead role along with Deepak Raj Giri, Kedar Ghimire, Neeta Dhungana, and Jeetu Nepal. His another movie wada number chha was also blockbuster. He is highly active in social work too.

Early life

Kattel was born in Solukhumbu district of Nepal where his early life and schooling was completed. His arrival in Kathmandu and the massacre of King Birendra Family were coincident. His family moved from Solukhumbu to Jhapa when he was a child. He used to help his father in his field while going to the school. He performed his first comedy in the school and everyone liked it. So, he ran away from home to Kathmandu hoping to be a good actor and a comedian. His first successful career as an actor was Meri Bassai. There, he met Kunjana Ghimire and fell in love with her. They got married in 2009.

He started his career from a hit comedy show called Geetanjali, in which he worked as temporary script writer. He also worked in Jire Khursani, a famous Nepali comedy TV series for a while. After that along with Kedar Ghimire and Daman Rupakheti he created the sitcom Meri Bassai, which helped him to establish as one of the most successful comedians in Nepal . He also visited many places around the world to perform comedy.Most popularly known as Dhurmush, he has also acted in versatile roles. His popular caricatures include kp oli, bhuteshowr baba, khada nanda baba, khadka ji, aitay, muskan pasa etc. He is by far the most versatile comedian in the history of Nepal.
