Around the world are living over 500 million Ja'aferi also known as the Ithna-Asheri (Twelver) Shia Muslims, who make up 20% of all Muslims in the Americas as well as being individually the largest Islamic sect and school of thought worldwide leading before the Hanafi Sunni sect at 419 million. Nearly 786,000 Shia Muslims situated on United States. American Shia Muslim community are from different part of the world such as South Asia, Europe, Middle East, and East Africa. They have many activities and founded several organization such as Islamic Center of America and North American Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities Organization (NASIMCO).

Brazil

Brazil, a vast South American country, has approximately one million Shia Muslims that were there from time of the Ottoman Empire. Also, there are many Lebanese emigrants in Brazil that caused to increase Shia beliefs. In Brazil, Shia Muslims generally are living in an area known as Korotiba. They have many activities and establish several Islamic centers and institutes for propagating Shia beliefs and message of Ahl al-Bayt. For this reason, there are several related place to Shia Muslims in Sao Paulo as Prophet of Allah Muhammad mosque and Imam Khomeini Islamic Center. Also, Shias have one mosque, Imam Ali mosque, where Shia and Sunni pray. Also, in recent year, Shia and Sunni scholars have several meeting with each other. Many Shia's books translated to the Portuguese as Nahjul Balagha.

Metro Detroit

Over 30,000 Shia have situated on Metro Detroit and most of them are from Lebanese and Iraqi communities. This palace known as Arab-American communities in the United States.

Canada

Out of 850,000 Muslims who live in Canada, there are 300,000 persons are Shia. They are from Iran, Pakistan, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Azerbaijan.

Islamic Center of America

Islamic Center of America is a Shia mosque where located in Dearborn, Michigan. Also, It is the oldest Shia mosque in the United States and the largest in North America. The institution known as "heart of Shiism" in the United States.

North American Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities

North American Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities (NASIMCO) is a religious-cultural organization for Shia followers in the North of America. Islamic education board of the NASIMCO have investigated and standardized Shia books and also published several references in Shia history and theology.

Council of Shia Muslim Scholars

Council of Shia Muslim Scholars was founded in North America on 1994 known as central organization for Shia followers.

Al-Khoie foundation

Al-Khoie foundation established on 1980s in New York by Seyyid Abul Qasim Musawi Al-Khoei, Grand Ayatullah and scholar of Shia.
