Background
The first episode, "The Turnaround", screened in 1995, was based on the book of the same name. The following year, a further four episodes screened. Each episode was ninety-minutes long, and all except the last episode were based on novels by Timlin of the same titles. The final episode, which does not appear to have been given an individual title, was an original story, though one scene was taken from the Timlin novel Pretend We're Dead.
Clive Owen stars as the protagonist, South London private detective Nick Sharman. Other regular cast members included John Salthouse as Detective Inspector Jack Robber, a seedy but cunning police officer, and Roberta Taylor, as Aggie. Guest stars in the series included Ray Winstone, Keith Allen and Samantha Janus. The pilot episode was released on VHS in 1995. The entire series, including the pilot, was released on DVD in 2010.
