Shapoorji Mistry was an Indian businessman, and the founder of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group. He was the son of Pallonji Mistry. Shapoorji Mistry's grandson Cyrus Mistry was the Chairman of Tata Sons. The Shapoorji Pallonji group is one of India's leading industrial conglomerate and a major construction company.

Early life

Shapoorji Mistry was born in Bombay. His son Pallonji Mistry was born in 1929 and is currently Chairman Emeritus of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group.

Financed Mughal-e-Azam

Shapoorji had a great love for cinema and theater. He admired Dilip Kumar's acting and financed the legendary Hindi movie, Mughal-e-Azam. When released in 1960, this movie was the costliest Hindi movie made till then.
