Scott attended Milton High School where he averaged 14 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 2.7 steals as a senior helping the Eagles to a 29-3 record, including 12-0 in conference. In his final three seasons with Milton, he helped squad go 82-15 with a state title and three championship game appearances. He was named a McDonald's All American in 2011.

After going undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft, Scott joined the San Antonio Spurs for the 2015 NBA Summer League. He averaged 6.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in 23.5 minutes to help San Antonio claim the championship. He hit the game-winning shot against the Boston Celtics in the semi-finals to propel the Spurs to the title game. He later signed with the Toronto Raptors on August 21, but was waived by the team on October 24 after appearing in two preseason games. On October 31, he signed with the Raptors 905 as an affiliate player. On November 14, he made his professional debut in an 83–80 loss to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, recording two points, seven rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes. On March 24, 2016, he recorded the first triple-double in Raptors 905's history in a 114–113 win over the Westchester Knicks, recording 24 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in 42 minutes.
