History
Sarawan country was ruled by many empires including the Ghaznavid Empire and Ghorid empires, until the end of the 15th century. In 1666 Mir Aḥmad Khan Qambrani was ruler of brahuistan khanate of kalat with the help of Dehwars. In 1758, Muhammad Nasir Khan I got freedom from Afghanistan by defeating Ahmad Shah Durrani in Kalat. Nasir Khan II was brought on throne by Sarawan tribesmen in the 1840s.
Population
In 1901, the total population was 65,549, most of the population were Sunni Muslims and very few Hindu traders. The majority of the population were brahuis. The centre of the country were Dehwars, Khorasanis and Johanis. The main tribes in the country were Dehwars, Lehris, Bangulzais, Kurds, Shahwanis, Muhammad Shahis and Sarparas.
