Salam Abu Amneh (Arabic: سلام أبو آمنة) is a Palestinian musician, singer, oud player and activist. Well known among the Palestinian musicians, especially by the approach of the Palestinian question and humanitarian causes, Salam uses her music as a political tool to spread her messages. Salam Abu Amneh was born and grown in Nazareth. Nowadays, lives with her family in Reineh village, Galilee, north of occupied (48) Palestine.

Biography

Salam start to sing when she was 8 years old, at the school. Thereafter, started to sing in the local TV and radio. At the beginning of her performances Salam used to sing, with no instrument. Her main instrument, oud, came later. Salam started to play oud at the age of 14, after she took the father's oud to play. Since then, in her presentations, Salam sings and plays, also followed by other musicians and orchestras.

Recordings

Although she has no recorded album, she became famous by recording singles, such as "Ana men hadey almadina / انا من هذه المدينه" (I belong to this city), one of her most famous songs. The lyric was written by the Palestinian poet and mayor of Nazareth Tawfiq Ziad (7 May 1929 – 5 July 1994). The melody was composed by the musician Maron Ashkar, also from Nazareth.

Live performance

Salam is also well known by her live performances, where important persons are present, as in the show "Bring us Peace", recorded in Nazareth on April 12, 2014. In this performance, the Palestinian resistance member Samer Issawi was present in the audience.

New recordings

Three new songs were recorded in Berlin, Germany. The video clips are being prepared and the production will be released soon.
