Sahba Aminikia (Persian صهبا امینی کیا) (born in 1981) is an Iranian-American contemporary classical music composer based in San Francisco, California. In November 2010, Aminikia's "String Quartet No.3: A Threnody for Those Who Remained" was world-premiered by the Kronos Quartet at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. A compilation of his works "Miniatures" is published under Hermes Records in 2011.

Education

Aminikia studied music composition in Russia at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory under Borish Ivanovich Tishchenko. In Iran, Aminikia studied under renowned Iranian pianists Nikan Milani, Safa Shahidi, Gagik Babayan, and primarily Mehran Rouhani. He also has received his BM and MM at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Daniel J. Becker, David Garner, David Conte and Conrad Susa. He has also received lessons from Richard Danielpour, John Corigliano, and John Adams (composer).
