Plot

The story revolved around Priya and Gautam, who were a happily married couple with two children, Akul and Mithi. Everything went wrong when Priya and Gautam became friends with Manisha. Manisha falls in love with Gautam, then Manisha and Gautam have an affair. When Priya finds out, it is up to Priya to get her husband back in line.

Synopsis

Priya and Gautam seem to have that ideal marriage - lovely children, a comfortable lifestyle and a happy home. Priya, like most Indian women, dedicates her life to her teenage children and her husband. She's smart, educated and articulate and chooses to spend her time bringing up her kids and taking care of her home rather than building a career.

This idyllic existence is doomed when Manisha walks into their lives. Manisha, who is young, unattached and beautiful, captures Gautam's attention. Gautam walks out, leaving a traumatized Priya and the children in his wake. Priya comes to grips with her new life, gets herself a job and tries to rebuild her home, trying her best to cope with life without Gautam. She befriends Ajit, the children's tutor, who is attracted to her and wants to marry her.

Gautam, meanwhile, is struggling to keep his life with Manisha on an even keel. She's not one of the easiest persons to live with and he looks to Priya for empathy. Will Priya submit to his advances? Will she marry Ajit?

Saans is one of India's most successful soaps. It has redefined the image of the Indian woman and every week Indian magazines were abuzz with what Priya will do next. Many of the letters that come in either question her decisions, support her or advise her on her next move. It has captured the attention of the nation and every evening viewer tunes in to smile, cry and to live with Priya.
