Rytis Rimdeika

Biography

1984–1990 started studying in Kaunas Medical Academy, 1995–1999 continued with his PhD studies in Kaunas University of Medicine's surgical department. 1990 m. became a surgeon, plastic and reconstructive surgery doctor in Kaunas Academy of Medicine's hospital (Plastic and reconstructive surgery's department). 2001–2006 - head of the Plastic surgery and burns department in Kaunas University of Medicine's hospital, starting from 2006 – head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery's department. 1997–2007 coordinator of surgery , 2007–2013- director of surgery in Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Hospital.

Dr. R. Rimdeika 1999 defended his thesis for a medical degree „Chirurginių metodų veiksmingumas gydant riboto ploto gilius nudegimus“. 1995 started a pedagogical job as an assistant lecturer in Kaunas University of Medicine, 1999 got a lecturer's degree, 2002 associate professor's, from 2006 – works as a professor.

Work

Dr. R. Rimdeika created many medical treating technics, gathered a group of qualified doctors and is a manager and consultant of 15 PhD's so far.

As he started working in Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Hospital Kauno Klinikos, the department of Plastic Surgery and Burns became a place, which is known and valuable in European Union countries.

Dr. R. Rimdeika is an active scientist. He organises and leads medical studies related to the reconstructive surgery and wounds, participates in many international projects and researches. While participating in international events, dr. Rytis Rimdeika has read over 300 lectures.

Dr. Rytis Rimdeika is a member of editorial office and reviewer of scientific journals such as Medicina (Elsevier), European Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Springer), Lietuvos Chirurgija (Vilnius,NVI), Novosti Khirurgii (Vitebsk), EWMA Journal (Copenhagen).

2000–2014 member of the board in Kaunas University of Medicine and member of the senate in Lithuanian University of Health Sciences , member of many work groups in Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania, an adviser in health related questions to the Mayor of Kaunas.

Awards

1999 and 2015 was awarded honorary diplomas by the minister of Health in Lithuania.
2002 got „Gerumo plyta“ („ Gerumo kristalas “) award.
2006 got "Sveikatos riterio“ award in Kaunas.
2012 was awarded as honored doctor in Lithuania by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania.
