The Rungwa Game Reserve is in Tanzania. It was established in 1951. This site is 9,000 km2 (3,500 sq mi).

Rungwa Game Reserve covers an area of 9,000 km2 (3,500 sq mi). It is situated in Manyoni Singida Region The reserve is composed of hills mixed with patches of forest along the streams and the Mpera River valley, which provide water in the dry season and becomes the best game viewing areas from July to November.

The Game Reserve Ecosystem extends to Ruaha National Park which is the second largest wildlife area in Tanzania after the Selous Game Reserve.

It is a widespread reserve, covering large part of Central and West Tanzania and primarily covered with Miombo woodlands giving visitors access to excellent hicket is a unique vegetation type found only in two places in Africa. One is on the northern fringes of the Muhesi GR and this may the only place where it is protected.

The predominant wildlife species in Rungwa Game Reserve are: lions, leopards, Cape buffaloes, elands, sables, nibbles, Greater kudus, grysboks, klipspringers, oribis, hartebeests, liechtensteins, impala, zebras, hippopotami, crocodiles and bush pigs. The reserve provides the excellent habitation for lion and hyena. It is regarded to have largest concentration of bird species feeding themselves in Usangu valley.
