Rose gentle mother of uk soldier killed in iraq
Rose Gentle is the mother of Gordon Gentle, a 19-year-old from Pollok who was killed while serving in Iraq. Some claimed that this was through the failure of the UK government to provide adequate equipment to their armed forces. Since his death she has campaigned against the Iraq War and set up the Justice 4 Gordon Gentle campaign. Alongside Reg Keys she is a founder member of Military Families Against the War.

Rose Gentle contested the East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow seat in the 2005 general election against Armed Forces minister Adam Ingram. Despite the Scottish Socialist Party standing down to give Gentle a free run, she only received 3.2% of the vote, coming second last place in the constituency.
Rose Gentle has announced her intentions to again contest the East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow seat in the 2010 general election, expected to be held in 2010. She intends to stand as a candidate for the Spectre party to contest local labour MP and Armed Forces minister Adam Ingram.
