Scholes made his senior debut for Ulster in February 2014 against the Ospreys.

During the 2016–17 Pro12 season, Scholes played for Scottish side Edinburgh.
Connacht
On 8 August 2017, Irish province Connacht announced that they had signed Scholes ahead of the 2017–18 Pro14 season.
