Romeo Tan (born Tan Romeo; Chinese: 陈罗密欧; pinyin: Chén Luómìōu; 9 April 1985) is an actor and a contracted artiste under MediaCorp. Tan came into prominence after finishing in fourth place on the tenth season of the television series Star Search in 2010. Tan has an official fan club called The Juilet Club and is one of the 7 Dukes of Mediacorp.

Early life

Tan was born on 9 April 1985. He has an elder brother, a younger brother, a nephew (Skyler Tan) and a niece (Stacy Tan). He attended Ngee Ann Secondary School and was a member of the school's National Police Cadet Corps. He graduated from ITE and Nanyang Polytechnic with a diploma in Digital Media Design in 2007.
2005–09: Cameo appearance in MediaCorp drama series

Tan made his television debut on the fourth season of Heartlanders in 2005. Since then, he made several cameo appearances in MediaCorp Channel 8 and Channel 5 dramas which earned him vast experiences in the area of acting.
2010: Star Search

After completing his filming for The Best Things in Life, Tan met Chen Hanwei, whom he had collaborated with in the drama series. Chen saw potential in Tan's acting ability and encouraged him to participate in the tenth season of Star Search. He eventually auditioned for the show and was put through to the quarter-final as one of the top 20 contestants of the season. During the quarter-final, he impressed the judges and was announced as one of the top 3 males of the round. During the semi-final, he impressed the judges once again and was put through to the grand final.
Prior to the grand final, he was widely regarded as the frontrunner of the competition and was predicted by the public as the eventual winner. However, he surprised everyone by finishing the competition in fourth place, losing the winner title to Jeffrey Xu. Although he did not win the competition, he was offered a two-year contract by MediaCorp together with Xu, Adeline Lim, Sora Ma, James Seah, and Darryl Yong.
2011–2012: Official drama debut, Star Awards nomination & Joys of Life breakthrough
Tan was the first among his fellow Star Search finalists to be given a supporting role in the critically acclaimed police procedural series C.L.I.F.. He was nominated for the Best Newcomer Award at Star Awards 2012 for his performance, but lost the award to Kate Pang.
He was then given a role in the star-studded drama series Joys of Life and made a career breakthrough in which he played a role as an antagonist for the first time. His performance was well-received from the public, and was widely regarded as one of the current rising stars.
He was given another leading role in Don't Stop Believin', which he played a role of Jin Zhengnan, a charming chef who experienced a love triangle with Du Siman (Felicia Chin) and Wu Yanbin (Elvin Ng). He later also appeared in the year-end blockbuster, It Takes Two as the Fish Prince.
2013–present: First leading role in Sudden
In 2013, Tan replaced Dai Xiang Yu, who was originally selected to play the role of Hong Khee Leong, as the male lead in the drama series Sudden. He paired up with leading actress Rui En for the first time, even though they have collaborated with each other earlier on in Joys of Life. Tan was also one of the original singers of the theme song of the drama series, together with Da Feng Chui.
