Career

Elvin Ng was discovered by MediaCorp DJ and Host, Dennis Chew and Belinda Lee during his university days. They were filming a variety show called "School Belle and the Beau 流星花园" in National University of Singapore. Ng performance in the variety show "School Belle and the Beau" attracted the MediaCorp producer, and they decided to give him a supporting role in year 2005 series, "A Life of Hope 活下去" where he acted alongside Joanne Peh. Due to his performance in A Life of Hope, MediaCorp decided to sign him under MediaCorp Artiste. He began his career in acting in 2005 and received two nominations in the Star Awards 2006. Although he lost the Most Popular Newcomer award to Kelvin Tan Weilian, he won an award for making the list of Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes. He won the Rocket Award for the biggest breakthrough at the Star Awards 2010 after making the "Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes" list three consecutive times and earning a Best Actor nomination for his performance as a young man with autism in the series Breakout and also he was nominated for best on-screen couple with Zhou Ying in the same year. He has an official fan club called Elvinlogy.
Personal life

Elvin Ng attended Jurong Primary School, Catholic High School and National Junior College. He graduated with an honours degree in English Literature from the National University of Singapore. where he wrote an honours thesis on carnivalesque in the female grotesque, in the works of Angela Carter and Frida Kahlo. In his first three works from 2005 to 2006, Ng wore braces in the inside (lingual), which affected his ability to converse and articulate properly.
