Early life
Gough graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in 2007. In college, he set up Bidaroo, an online auction site. After five years, Bidaroo sponsored an Indy car for the season and eventually sold it to a private buyer in 2009. Gough then grew Finish Line’s (NYSE: FINL) online marketing programs over 500% each year from $300k a year to over $30 million.
Career
He co-founded Eckim, an award-winning performance marketing company, in 2012. The company moved from Indianapolis to Marina Del Rey, California. The company grew rapidly and won awards. In 2012, Eckim won "Best New Publisher" at the Golden Link Awards in New York City. Under Gough’s leadership the company continued to win prestigious awards every year. Within 3 years, the company was hitting 8-figure revenues and was eventually sold to Quotient (NYSE: QUOT), formerly known as "Coupons," in August 2014.
Newell May Capital
Gough is currently operating a Los Angeles-based Venture Capital Fund, Newell May Capital, which focuses on investing in technology and early stage companies.
Cancer
Gough was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer called Ewing sarcoma at the age of 18 during his freshman year of college. He was given a 30% chance to live. During his treatment, he went through chemotherapy, which oftentimes left him in excruciating pain, unable to walk or eat for days. After 17 months of treatment, Gough fully recovered and returned to school.
Personal life
In 2015, Gough purchased his home on Bravo’s "Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles" TV show through his good friend Josh Altman. His purchase price was $3,350,000 million, however, Gough has been quoted as doing a lot of renovation since purchasing the home.
