Rings, previously titled as The Ring 3D, is an upcoming American supernatural psychological horror film directed by F. Javier Gutierrez and written by David Loucka, Jacob Aaron Estes and Akiva Goldsman. This is the third film in the American series based on the Japanese horror film Ringu, following The Ring and The Ring Two. The film had been rumored to be a prequel, however Gutierrez had stated that was not true and that the film is taking place 13 years after the events of The Ring. The film is produced by Laurie MacDonald and executive produced by Guillermo del Toro. The film stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe and Johnny Galecki. Principal photography began on March 23, 2015 in Atlanta. It is set for a November 13, 2015 release.
