Early years

Rees was born to George and Evelyn Odhiambo in Nairobi, Kenya and lived there before moving to Texas at the age of seven shortly after his father had died. His mother died when Rees was 17 years of age, this forced Rees to live with an uncle and get rides to school every day with an assistant coach. Odhiambo has one sibling, a younger sister.

Odhiambo attended Mansfield Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas where he began playing football his sophomore year of high school after being asked to turn out by an assistant coach who had him in a P.E. class. Odhiambo graduated from Mansfield Legacy High School in 2011. Odhiambo earned two letters in football and earned another letter in track and field. Boise State was the only university to offer Odhiambo a football scholarship.

College career

Odhiambo committed to Boise State on July 13, 2010 and signed his letter of intent on February 2, 2011. Odhiambo redshirted for the 2011 season, his first season on campus. That same season Odhiambo was awarded the Ultimate Goon Award by Boise State's head strength coach Tim Socha. Odhiambo played in each of the next four season appearing 32 games.

Professional career

On April 29, 2016, Odhiambo was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round (97th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. On May 6, 2016, Odhiambo signed a 4-year deal worth $2.9 million overall with a $645,416 bonus.

Personal

Odhiambo graduated from Boise State with his degree in exercise science in December 2015.
